WFA Grantee Spotlight: Jubilee Women's Center
Jubilee Women's Center Resident
Jubilee Women's Center shares WFA's strong commitment to creating communities in which women are economically secure and leading lives filled with opportunity. Twenty five years ago Jubilee opened its doors after its founders witnessed firsthand the emotional devastation suffered by women in crisis who could not find safe and affordable housing. Jubilee's founders dreamed of a place where women would have the space to re-discover their own center; that point within each of us where we know our own beauty and dignity.
Over the past 25 years, Jubilee has housed over 1,000 women and provided resource referrals to thousands more. Jubilee opened the first technology center dedicated to homeless women in transition and recently purchased the adjacent property and home to expand their services and increase their capacity by 26 percent.
As Jubilee celebrates 25 years of service, there is much to celebrate and yet a great deal remains to be done. In our recent economic climate, Jubilee has seen a 67% increase in housing applications and the need exceeds the services available. As we look ahead, WFA and Jubilee will continue to work harder than ever towards that bright future when every woman in our region is not only surviving but thriving!
