Women's Funding Alliance

Justice, health and opportunity for women and girls.

Granting Priorities

Women's Funding Alliance (WFA) invests strategically in progressive, community-based, and often under-funded organizations that address the root causes of problems affecting women and girls' well-being. Through its granting, WFA prioritizes making an impact in the lives of the most marginalized women and girls in our region. Furthermore, WFA is committed to mobilizing non-profit organizations to work for positive, lasting change for women and girls by providing funding and capacity-building support.

WFA's grant funding focuses on increasing political, economic and social opportunities for women and girls. The five main issue areas addressed through our grants include:

  • Civic Participation and Leadership – Women and girls have the opportunity to develop their leadership, become involved in their own communities and the political process.
  • Economic Opportunity – Women have the means and opportunities to lift themselves and their families out of poverty and onto a path of prosperity.
  • Education – Women and girls have the opportunities to learn and be successful.
  • Health and Well-being – Women have the right to self-determination and healthy choices.
  • Safety and Violence – Women and girls live in communities in which they are safe from violence, sexual assault and discrimination.

Out of these five issue areas, we have identified specific grantmaking priorities for the next 3–5 years. Because we understand that economic realities for women and their children underscore all of these issue areas, Economic Opportunity will be our primary grantmaking priority. In addition, WFA will provide general project and operating support which addresses the most imminent and crucial needs across all of the five issue areas.
