2007 Achievements & Highlights
In June 2007, the Women's Funding Alliance (WFA) published A Closer Look, a landmark study that provides an in-depth look at the quality of life for women and girls in King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Whatcom counties.
The project reached thousands of people directly through the research, briefings, community forums, mailings, and various presentations we gave throughout the four counties that we studied.
We convened key stakeholders in all four counties to provide solutions to the study's findings through five community feedback forums and a half-day priority-setting session. The information compiled from these sessions and the study's findings helped guide WFA's new strategic direction and granting priorities.
We made many presentations of the findings in A Closer Look with a wide range of influential organizations including: Greater Seattle Business Association, Seattle Downtown Rotary, Microsoft Community Affairs Team, Seattle Women's Commission, Parsons Public Relations Firm, Jewish Women's Funding Network, King County Women's Political Caucus and a legislative reception hosted by Washington State Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles.
A Closer Look garnered widespread media coverage, with articles appearing in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the Puget Sound Business Journal, Seattle Woman Magazine, The Bellingham Business Journal, The Tacoma News Tribune. In addition, WFA Executive Director LeAnne Moss was interviewed on several area radio stations.
