Who We Fund
Women's Funding Alliance (WFA) promotes justice, health and opportunity by investing in the future of women and girls in the Puget Sound region. Through its grantmaking program, WFA advocates for social change by supporting organizations that serve and advocate for women and girls.
What we like to fund: Women's Funding Alliance supports organizations that increase political, economic and social opportunities for women and girls. Because we understand that women and girls are severely underserved, we invest in long-term, social-change efforts that address a broad range of needs. WFA funds organizations of various sizes and capacity, though priority is sometimes given to emerging organizations with smaller budgets.
We welcome applications from non-profit organizations that:
- Have missions specifically focused on serving women and girls and/or request funding for a project specifically focused on women and girls.
- Serve women and girls in the Puget Sound region of Washington State (defined as the following counties: Clallam, Island, Jefferson, King, Kitsap, Mason, Pierce, San Juan, Skagit, Snohomish, Thurston, Whatcom).
- Operate in Washington State
- Have women and/or girls in positions of leadership
- Sign WFA's anti-discrimination certification attached to the letter of Inquiry application
Threshold criteria for all grants:
- Mission: Does the agency's mission reflect a commitment to improving the lives of women and girls?
- Organizational Values: Does the agency's values reflect WFA's values of equity, collaboration, respect, anti-oppression, accountability, worth of women and empowerment?
- Organizational Soundness: Does the organization have the internal capacity and systems to sustain itself as a strong, lasting organization? For example, this could include having at least a three-member board (or if you are new, a steering committee), a bookkeeping system, general work plan and mission statement.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Is there an intention to coordinate services and/or collaborate among groups sharing similar goals? If you don't collaborate, why not?
WFA does not fund:
- Projects that do not benefit women and girls in the Puget Sound region
- Emergency services (e.g. homeless shelter beds)
- Government agencies
- Fellowships, research
- Land, building and renovation projects
- Endowments
- Individuals
