Civic Engagement & Leadership Development Grants

Through its Civic Engagement & Leadership Development granting, the Women's Funding Alliance (WFA) supports organizations that affect the underlying policies, cultural beliefs, behaviors and systems that prevent women from being fully engaged in their communities as leaders, participants, decision-makers and activists. WFA funds projects with impacts such as:

  1. More women in decision-making roles in their local/cultural communities and in the broader community, particularly in marginalized communities
  2. More women participating in the political process, ensuring that the voices of a diverse group of women inform and shape local, state and national public policy
  3. More women in leadership roles (community and business)

2008 Civic Engagement & Leadership Development grants given in May were focused on two areas:

  • Developing marginalized women to be leaders within their own communities through involvement in the political process
  • Voter registration efforts coupled with additional efforts to increase female voter turnout in marginalized communities

The next granting cycle in this area will begin sometime in spring/early summer of 2009. Dates are still being determined. Full criteria and application information will be posted on our web site at that time.
