Federation
The purpose of the WFA Federation is to provide a source for
women's and girls' agencies to receive ongoing, unrestricted funding
from workplace giving campaigns. By becoming a federation agency,
organizations that typically haven't had any other access to workplace
donations will be able to raise funds for their programs through
such campaigns.
General Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for funding from the Women's Funding Alliance,
an agency must meet the following general requirements:
- Majority of people served are women or girls.
- Be a non-profit organization as determined by the Internal
Revenue Service (or be sponsored by such an organization). Note:
American Indian tribal governments and their agencies (or organizations
sponsored by federally recognized tribal governments) are not
required to have tax-exempt status.
- Serve women and girls in the Puget Sound region of Washington
State. (Puget Sound region defined as following counties: Kitsap,
Thurston, Pierce, King, Mason, Snohomish, Skagit, San Juan,
Whatcom). Organization or program must operate in Washington.
- Women and/or girls must be in positions of leadership.
- Sign a written anti-discrimination policy statement created
by the Women's Funding Alliance that includes (but is not limited
to) sex, race, color, ethnicity, age, disability, religion,
national origin, citizenship, political or union ideology or
affiliation, marital or parental status, veteran status or sexual
orientation.
- Operate in a manner consistent with WFA's mission and values.
Federation Specific Eligibility Requirements
In addition to the general requirements listed above, Federation
Agencies must:
- Have been in existence for two years or more
- Submit the following financial information: current budget;
annual audit if the budget is over $100,000 OR a compilation
if the budget is between $50,000 and $99,999; a 990 and an annual
report
- Provide a description of services provided
- Provide a list of board of directors
- Submit a written non-discrimination policy
- Submit a written affirmative action policy
- Submit copies of Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation
- Be in compliance with state law as it applies to non-profit
organizations
Expectations
Recipients of federation funding participate in campaign activities,
assist with access strategies, and help recruit and orient new
workplace recipients. On an annual basis, each agency will be
required to prove that it still meets federation eligibility requirements.
Recipients must also submit necessary paperwork to participate
in public workplace campaigns and elect to be listed under the
Women's Funding Alliance (as opposed to another federation) in
all public campaigns.
